Marketing, Communications and Events Officer

The College
Marist College Canberra is a Congregational Catholic school for boys (Year 4-12) operating as part of ‘Marist Schools Australia’. Position Purpose
The Marketing and Communications Officer supports the activities of the marketing and communication portfolio, to help the College’s strategic goals by helping attract new students, engage current families, and uphold the reputation and brand of Marist College Canberra.
The position plays a key support role within the Business Services team, reporting to the Marketing and Communications Manager and working closely with the Director of Business Services to assist the execution of marketing, communication and event strategies to support community engagement, enrolment, recruitment, fundraising and alumni engagement activities.
Selection Criteria
Required Skills
- Commitment to the Mission of the College, the ethos of a Catholic School and the particular Marist ethos.
- Tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications or business and/or relevant work. experience in either marketing, communications or community engagement.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Demonstrated skills in content creation, including graphic design, photography, and video editing. Proven ability to craft compelling written content for varied formats, from short-form social media captions to long-form features (e.g. newsletters, magazine, yearbook content).
- Experience implementing social media as a key engagement tool.
- Excellent writing, editing, interpersonal and communication skills.
- An understanding of marketing and communication strategies across a broad range of audience channels and multiple platforms.
- Technical proficiency with CMS platforms, SEO, analytics tools, Microsoft Office and Adobe suite applications, with experience in website content management and supporting digital platform upgrades. A sound understanding or interest in learning about emerging digital trends, and the communications and engagement landscape for education.
- Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Other Requirements
The Marketing and Communications Officer must meet all legislative, professional and Child Safeguarding requirements including holding ACT Working with Vulnerable People Registration.

Remuneration, Hours of Duty and Commencement Date
The position is classified as Clerical Officer Level 3 under the Support Staff (Daramalan College, Marist College Canberra, and St Edmund’s College, Canberra) Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2025 (the Agreement), as amended or replaced. An annual salary commensurate with the skills and qualifications of the successful candidate will be as per the Enterprise Agreement.
This is a full-time permanent position of 76 hours per fortnight. Regular hours of work are are Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:36pm. The Marketing, Communications and Events Officer is entitled to four weeks annual leave exclusive of the College stand down period over Christmas/New Year break. This position is available for an immediate start.
